Hi fellow survivor. (One who survives or outlives another or others)
This site was created in March 2005 as an introduction to a project currently underway following links from "probably" the best, most visited, survivors web site created by "the" Andy Priestner, to Bob Meades great fan forum pages,
The intention of this site is to find a group of volunteers who are interested in learning some basic survival techniques that may be useful following an incident or accident or even the worst scenario, a global pandemic, as portrayed in the TV series "SURVIVORS" shown over three series between 1975 to 1978, purely hypothetical of course, but who knows what is around the corner !!
(Pandemic: General, universal. esp. Of a disease: prevalent over the whole of a country or continent, or over the whole world.)
If you are you interested in survivalism, outdoorsmanship, hill-walking or camping? lessons learnt here could be of use to you!
The idea of these "EVENTS" is to take these volunteers who want to find out if they could cope in any of these survival situations. These people leave home with just the bare minimum (including their food) and travel to a location near to LUDLOW in Shropshire. This would be their new home for anything up to seven days. Once there they learn some basics in surviving; from :-
Lighting fires for heat, light and cooking.
Basic, and advanced temporary/permanent shelter building.
The safe use of axes, knives and saws.
Collecting, filtering and cleaning of water for consumption and cooking.
Basic navigation techniques using map and compass.
Communication systems. Including setting up a field telephone system, also the use of two-way radios, also using mirrors to attract attention.
The making and setting traps for food acquasition.
It is also hoped these individuals will have the opportunity to pass on a number of skills they themselves have, but certainly not least, to see if they can cope with being a stranger amongst strangers?
It is planned to run a weekend of activities one weekend in September from Friday evening 16th to Sunday 18th, so if you would like to be considered for any of the available places, then drop me a line, again the weekend will be done free of charge, just bring your own food along and a basic camping kit.
I hope that you will take a look at the forum page and put up a posting with any ideas or questions you may have!!
This site has been created by an amateur for amateurs, if you have between £125/day and £800/week to spare you can go to a professional to learn how to survive, the choice is yours!
Please Enjoy Your Stay.
Sorry that this site is still a bit bare at the moment, it takes time to get it right, and that is the intention, after all "your" life may depend on it one day. This site will also have general survival tips for those who enjoy outward bound type adventure!
This site is still under construction, be patient, I hope to make it better as time goes on.
